Listing video

Etsy listing video maker for print on demand

Etsy has taken listing videos for years and most print on demand shops still skip them, because making one means opening a video editor. This makes one out of the colors you already sell, in about a minute, with no editor and nothing uploaded anywhere.

Etsy's rules

What Etsy accepts for a listing video

These are Etsy's published requirements, and the specification every video here is rendered to.

RequirementEtsy acceptsWorth knowing
Length5 to 15 secondsAnything longer is clipped
Resolution1080px or better500px is the hard minimum
Aspect ratioBetween 2:1 and 1:2Square sits safely in the middle
AudioRemoved on uploadThe video has to work silently

The audio rule is the one that catches people out. A video built around a voiceover arrives on the listing silent, and whatever it was saying is simply gone.

How it works

Three steps, no timeline to learn

01

Pick the footage

Choose a design and tick the colors you want in the video, and it renders those mockups for you. Or drop in images you already have — earlier mockups, real photographs, anything.

02

Choose a style

Six looks, from a slow dissolve to a grid that builds itself. The preview plays as you change it, so you are choosing from the finished thing rather than from a name.

03

Download the MP4

Square, up to 2048 × 2048, five to fifteen seconds, ready to upload. It renders on your own machine, so your designs never leave your computer.

Six styles

Different videos, not the same one six times

Each one moves differently, because a listing video and a Reel are not the same job.

Soft fade

A slow push in, each color dissolving into the next. The one to use when the product is the point.

Slide

Each color pushes the last one off, the way a buyer already scrolls through your thumbnails.

Punch cut

Snappy cuts with a scale pop. Survives being watched small, so it doubles as Reels footage.

Card stack

Colors stacked like cards with the top one flicking away. Looks made rather than generated.

Swatch strip

A big shot on top with the whole color range along the bottom, so the buyer can count them.

Grid build

Tiles drop in one at a time until every color is on screen at once. The range shot.

Why bother

The only place a buyer sees the whole range move

  • Most print on demand shops have no listing video at all, so it is a difference a buyer notices
  • A Bella+Canvas 3001 listing can sell 169 colors — a video shows them in ten seconds, a photo carousel cannot
  • It gives a listing something to do while the buyer decides
  • The same file works as a Reel or a TikTok, so one render covers two jobs
  • Two videos are allowed per listing, and almost nobody uses the second

Made from what you already have

The video is rendered from the same mockups the generator makes, so there is no second set of files to organise and nothing to shoot. Import from Printify, pick your colors, and the footage is the product range you are already selling.

FAQ

Etsy listing video questions

How long should an Etsy listing video be?
Between 5 and 15 seconds. Etsy clips anything longer, so a 20 second video loses its last 5 seconds rather than being rejected — which is worse, because you may not notice.
Do Etsy listing videos have sound?
No. Etsy removes audio when you upload, so a video that depends on a voiceover or music arrives silent. Anything you need the buyer to know has to be visible.
What size should an Etsy listing video be?
At least 1080px on the shortest side, with an aspect ratio between 2:1 and 1:2. Square is the safe choice because it matches the frame your photographs already sit in.
How many videos can one listing have?
Two. They appear after your photographs in the same carousel.
Do I need a video editor to make one?
No. Pick a design and the colors you sell, choose a style, and it renders the video in your browser and downloads it as an MP4. There is no timeline to learn and nothing is uploaded to a server.
Is it worth adding a video to a print on demand listing?
Etsy has supported listing videos for years and most print on demand shops still skip them, which is exactly why it is worth doing. A video is also the only place on a listing where a buyer can see the whole color range move past in a few seconds.
